This puff pastry pinwheel recipe is super easy with store-bought puff dough sheets. They are delicious and buttery, with flaky layers and a sweet jam! You won't believe you could make something so fun so fast!
Ingredients:
1 - 8 x 16-inch puff pastry dough sheet, thawed. I use Jecky's brand
1/2 cup of your favorite flavored jam. I use raspberry
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon coarse sugar, optional
Here's How:
Step 1: Preheat oven to 425' F degrees
Step 2: Mix the egg and water like a scrambled egg and set aside.
Step 3: Lay out your puff pastry sheet on a lined sheet pan
Cut dough into 4" squares using a pizza wheel or a sharp knife; do not cut into your pan lining. Make slits on the corners of each square. I used a fluted ravioli cutter for fun. The jam will stay put if you pull the corners up over it.
Step 4: Eggwash the whole sheet
Step 5: Quickly place 1-2 teaspoons of jam in the center of each square.
Step 6: Bring each corner of each square up over the jam to the center. Or if you are in a big hurry, bring in all your corners, press with your thumb, and then top with jam. (The jam will stay put during baking if you pull the corners up over it )
Step 7: Eggwash the top of the dough and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
Step 8: Bake until puffed and golden brown. About 10-12 minutes.
