Asian dumplings are hard to resist. Most times, these steamed pockets of deliciousness are enjoyed at an Asian restaurant or delivered for takeout. But now, you can make these lazy no-fold dumplings at home in about 15 minutes! This lazy dumpling recipe went viral, and after making them, that badge is well deserved. These shortcut dumplings, sometimes called blanket dumplings, are delicious and so easy to make!

The ingredients needed for this Asian recipe are ones you probably already have in your pantry, fridge or freezer. The only ingredient I had to buy was wonton wrappers, which are readily available at most grocery stores. Here is your short shopping list for this viral lazy day dumplings recipe: ground pork, green onions (scallions), fresh ginger (check out the health benefits of ginger), fresh garlic, soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil and wonton wrappers.

The ground pork is seasoned with all the Asian flavors, rolled into balls and put into a hot skillet, where the bottoms start to brown while you cover them with wonton wrappers. Add a little (not much!) water to the bottom of the pan, cover and let the meat cook and the wonton wrappers steam. Toss some green onions into the pan and serve!

Variation: You could use ground chicken or ground turkey instead of ground pork. 

Serve these Asian steamed dumplings for lunch, dinner or as a savory appetizer. I served mine with fried rice and snow peas.

Ingredients

• 1 pound ground pork
• 2 - 3 green onions, chopped
• 1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger (I used frozen ginger cubes)
• 4 cloves garlic, minced
• 2 tablespoons soy sauce (I used low-sodium soy sauce)
• 1 tablespoon mirin
• 1 teaspoon sesame oil
• wonton wrappers

Here's how to make it: 

1. Put the ground pork, green onions, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, mirin and sesame oil into a mixing bowl. Add black pepper, to taste. Mix well to combine.
2. Form the meat into balls, using about 1 heaping tablespoon for each. (I got 15 balls.)
3. Heat a drizzle of cooking oil in a skillet over medium heat. (I used a cast iron skillet, but would suggest a nonstick skillet.) Add the meatballs, leaving space between each one.
4. Cover each meatball with a wonton wrapper. (Be careful when you press the wonton wrapper down, the pan is hot.)
5. Add a little water to the bottom of the pan, about 1 to 2 tablespoons. (I also added a couple shakes of soy sauce. Why not?) Cover the pan with a lid and cook until pork is cooked through, about 5 to 8 minutes. (Pork is cooked through at 145 degrees F on a food thermometer.)
6. Serve. Garnish the dumplings with green onions, if desired. Store any leftover dumplings in an airtight container in the fridge. Reheat in the microwave or in a steamer basket on the stovetop.
