Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 pound (16 ounces) cooked chopped ham
- 1 box (16 ounces) dried pasta (fettuccine, penne, bowties, rotini, fusilli or your favorite pasta)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 4 1/2 cups water
- 8 ounces shredded Swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for topping
Here's how to make it:
- Melt the butter in a large pot. Add the onion. Season with salt and pepper and cook, stirring often, until soft, about 3 to 4 minutes. Add the ham, pasta, garlic, Dijon mustard, wine and water. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and gently simmer for about 10 minutes or until pasta is al dente. Stir in the Swiss and Parmesan cheese. You can serve now or continue to step 2.
- Pour the mixture into a lightly greased baking dish. Sprinkle with additional Parmesan cheese. Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven for about 20 minutes or until cheese has melted and top is beginning to lightly brown.
