What Are Those Bumps on My Baby's Nose? The Facts on Newborn Milia & Epstein's Pearls by Dr. Hannah Chow-Johnson

Nearly half of newborns develop milia, a condition in which tiny white bumps are found, usually on the nose. The bumps are nothing to be concerned about and are a result of keratin, a type of protein. No treatment is needed as the bumps gradually disappear within a few months. 

Similar bumps can appear on the roof of a baby’s mouth or on the gum-line. These are called Epstein’s pearls, which are benign cysts that don’t cause harm and resolve quickly.
