"Incredibles 2": Walt Disney Hears Concerns by Epilepsy Warriors About Flashing Lights in Movie Headlines

Its long awaited release (14 years to be exact), now in the shadow of a serious risk to some movie-goers. Theaters across the country are posting warnings about several scenes in the new Disney-Pixar film "Incredibles 2" that could trigger epileptic seizures or other photosensitivity issues, like migraines, according to CNN. The scenes have what is described as both "flashing" and "strobe" lights.

According to a statement released by the Epilepsy Foundation, "For about 3 percent of people with epilepsy, exposure to flashing lights at certain intensities, or with certain visual patterns, can trigger seizures."

The likelihood that it can happen is small, but it is possible. After learning about the issue, Walt Disney Studios advised signs be posted "out of an abundance of caution." It seems movie fans have really appreciated the growing number of alerts now on display near ticket counters, allowing patrons to make an informed choice about the film.

So, the villain’s weapon of choice in the movie is bright white lights that are at a rapidly flashing/strobing frequency, with the intent to disorient people. One of these scenes lasts over 90 seconds with continuous strobe light, other scenes last anywhere from 5-30 seconds
