I am angry and sad that the President of the United States said that it is OK for the military to treat refugees in the migrant caravan with rocks at the border as if they have guns! We are talking about kids and families who are just trying to have a better life. America is a country that was founded by people who were just trying to make life better for themselves and their families!

We have a duty to protect asylum seekers and refugees and treat them with care and respect. I am ashamed to have a president who speaks like that about people. We need to bring them here now and eliminate it as an election issue. We must challenge racism!

This has got to stop. America is one of the wealthiest nations on earth, and should have nothing but compassion and caring for these refugees. Who would not do anything in their power to protect their children if they were in that situation? Why are we afraid to be compassionate?

For the love of God, how can anyone think this is OK? Vote, America! Vote, Texas! Vote, Illinois! Everyone needs to do their job and vote. Voting is your way of showing Donald Trump that it not OK to treat people like that. We must stand up for people in need.

Again, America is a country that has been built on people looking for a better life.

I was in complete shock when I read this. How can we as a country have stooped to this level? Everyone no matter who they are deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. The moment we stop doing that we have lost who we are supposed to be as Americans and humans. I hope people stand up to this terrible rhetoric, it is dangerous and demeaning.

This is heartbreaking and alarming. America is a country of immigrants who work hard to provide for their families. The American Dream is the ultimate promise of a better life, and that is what refugees and migrants are seeking as they turn to us for hope. The United States is HOPE. If we can't find a way to offer that to those who are suffering where they live, we have truly lost our way. But I do have hope. My thoughts exactly. What if a kid throws a rock and the troops start shooting? We kept hearing "guilty before proven innocent" from the Kavanaugh trial but isn't this the same thing? Yet worse as it's all lies! Calling them rapists, very bad people, dangerous, carrying diseases. No evidence. Anyone who would walk miles with children is clearly trying to escape harm's way

We are a nation of immigrants that has been proud of our “melting pot” country. I cannot accept that our “commander in chief” is so reckless with his words and has ordered more troops to our borders than we have fighting terrorism overseas. Our country is supposed to be a refuge; a place to live the American Dream.
