The Power of Prayer During the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic: How Amy Correa Bell Is Sharing Hope in These Uncertain Times Make a Difference Opinion
There are many celebrities giving back to the world through their craft during the coronavirus pandemic. Teachers are teaching classes online, dance lessons are being given, people are making music to help ease the anxiety of the American people – which brings me to a beautiful soul named Amy Correa Bell.
Amy is the wife of Ricky Bell from the group New Edition and Bell Biv DeVoe (BBD), yet she’s way more than that. Amy is a musician in her own right and has released many singles in the last three years. But all that is not why I’m writing this. I’m writing this because Amy caught my attention when she took to her FaceBook page, went live and prayed for everyone that has the coronavirus. That really touched my heart that a celebrity would take the time out of their day to pray for others.
Her prayer was so sincere, so beautiful, that I was compelled to write about it. Amy also said that she wanted to come on live without any makeup, no filters, so that women could see the real her (although beautiful either way). She wanted to show other women that just because you see the beautiful pictures that have been photoshopped of her, she is still a very real person who has flaws just like everyone else. What a fantastic person!
She’s been releasing music lately, and releasing so much positive energy and light into the world. But the real moral to this story is: people from all walks of life will come together in the most uncertain of times to be a light for others whether it’s through music, dance, prayer or service to the community. In a world where there is a new normal, love speaks the same silent language, and through Amy Correa’s prayer that love was felt by many near and far.
This virus is bringing out our vulnerability, yet making others strong for the weak. And that is humanity at its best. Amy’s prayer brought me to tears. Thank you, Amy, for showing us that we are all the same race when it comes to pain.
