Shortcut Budget Beef Tips Recipe With Rich & Savory Brown Gravy by 30Seconds Food

This shortcut beef tips recipe uses beef chuck roast instead of other pricey beef cuts, so it's also a budget-friendly recipe.

You only need a short list of ingredients to make this budget beef recipe for your family. Here is your shopping list: olive oil, onion, a beef chuck roast, a can of low-sodium beef broth, a can of condensed French onion soup, Worcestershire sauce, cornstarch, salt and black pepper. 

The beef tips simmer gently on the stove until they are fork tender and juicy. The gravy is rich and savory, and smells amazing. Serve the beef tips and gravy over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, rice or your favorite grains. Add a vegetable or salad, and you have a dinner that will be requested over and over again.

Ingredients

• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• 1 onion, chopped
• 1 beef chuck roast (about 2 pounds), cut into small bite-sized pieces
• 10.5 ounces (1 can) low-sodium beef broth
• 10.5 ounces (1 can) French onion soup 
• 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
• 3 tablespoons cornstarch
• 1/3 cup water
• salt and black pepper, to taste

Recipe Notes

• You could forget the "budget" part and use ribeye, sirloin or your favorite cut of beef for this recipe.

• For even more flavor, you would add minced fresh garlic or a bay leaf to the pot while it simmers.

• Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. Reheat on low in a saucepot on the stove or in the microwave.

Here's how to make it: 

1. Season the beef pieces with salt and black pepper, to taste. Heat the olive oil in a large soup pot or dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the beef in batches (don't crowd the pan) and brown on all sides. Remove to a plate. 
2. Add the onion and cook until soft, about 5 minutes. 
3. Add the beef back to the pot along with the broth, soup and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and gently simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender. 
4. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water. Whisk into the beef and cook a minute more or until it thickens the gravy. Taste and add salt and black pepper, to taste.
5. Serve over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, rice or your favorite grain.
