It's important for new moms to find a pediatrician or doctor to provide healthcare services to their new babies. A baby needs to be seen by a doctor several times during the first few months of life, mostly for weight checks and well-baby appointments. 

If you plan to breastfeed your baby, it's best to find a doctor who's supportive of your breastfeeding goals, whether those goals are 6 months or extended breastfeeding. Each mom-baby relationship is unique, and it's important for the baby's doctor to be supportive of breastfeeding.
