My 12-year-old son’s best friend’s parents treat my son like part of the family. They feed him dinner, buy him gifts and take him places. Basically, he’s there ALL THE TIME! It’s an odd dynamic, because the two boys never play here. I show my appreciation in other ways. But it made me uncomfortable. It just didn’t seem right.
Then I had an epiphany: I realized how perfect the situation really was. For them. For us. It no longer had to make sense. Trusting rarely does. Now I am receiving the goodness. Plain and simple. This holiday season, remember to receive. You can do it. You deserve it!
