The Dad Who Was Photobombed During His Live BBC Interview Speaks Out (With Kids & Wife in Tow) by Christine Jones

By now, I'm sure you've seen the hilarious video of the Korean affairs expert being photobombed by his adorable young children while being interviewed live on BBC. (If you somehow missed it, you can see it here.) The best part for me is when the second child comes rolling in. That's when I really lost it. Now for the first time since that infamous interview, Robert E. Kelly and his wife, Kim Jung-A, address the media and talk about their reactions to the video that has gone viral!

They recount the series of events that lead up to the hilarity. The BBC interview was at the end of a long day of media appearances from the Kelly home in South Korea. Kelly is an expert on East Asian affairs who was being interviewed to discuss the impeachment of South Korea's president. Typically when he does interviews from home, he locks his office door. This time, he forgot, as his wife jokingly points out. Right after the incident, he and his wife were concerned that the incident would end his career. Not so. Thankfully, it seems like most reactions have been positive and understanding that this is a true life example of regular old parenting chaos!

In fact, according to the WSJ (the source of the video above), the original video interview has now been viewed more than 84 million times! As Kelly jokes, “I made this minor mistake that turned my family into YouTube stars. It’s pretty ridiculous.” Watch the video with him and his family – we dare you not to smile!
