Men in Early Childhood Education: My Interview With Preschool Teacher Corey Battersby by Mike Prochaska

Corey Battersby graduated last year with a degree in Early Childhood Education. He's now a teacher at Mawson Lakes Preschool in South Australia. Here's why he got into the ECE field!

Q. How did you get into the field of Early Childhood Education?

"I was always told I would be a good teacher, and I loved working with kids (part-time in a toy shop), so I decided that is what I would do."

Q. What do you think are the advantages of male teachers?

"I believe that children need a balance between male and female teachers. Both males and females provide their own benefits to children which I believe is extremely important."

Q. What is your best memories working with kids?

"I have many amazing memories of working with children. One of the best feelings is walking back into a site after being away and seeing the smiles and happiness of the children to welcome you back. I am currently only doing TRT work whilst looking for a job. I hope to find a job working with preschool students."
