School of Rock: Music Students Will Take the Stage With Musician Dweezil Zappa! by Donna John
School of Rock, the leader in performance-based music education, is teaming up with Dweezil Zappa, son of legendary composer and guitarist, Frank Zappa. A handful of top students from School of Rock locations will play a song with Dweezil on stage during his "Choice Cuts 2018" world tour. The upcoming performances will take place in top cities such as Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco and more. The performances run from November 21 through December 14, 2018, in select cities.
School of Rock's 220 schools provide students of all ages an exciting and engaging music-lesson experience, which includes guitar lessons, singing lessons and piano lessons. Drawing from all styles of rock and roll, School of Rock students learn theory and techniques via songs from legendary artists such as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and, of course, Frank Zappa. Thanks to the school's performance-based approach, students around the world have gained superior musical proficiency, with some moving on to record deals and larger platforms such as "American Idol," "The Voice" and Broadway.
"Our revolutionary teaching approach gives School of Rock students the chance to grow as musicians by performing live," says Rob Price, CEO of School of Rock. "Sharing the stage with legends such as Dweezil Zappa provides a transformational creative and personal experience."
Dweezil Zappa learned from an early age the magic of performing live music, watching his father, Frank Zappa, lead his band through treacherous rhythmic twists and turns. From the wings of the stage, Dweezil gained a unique perspective on musicianship, one that he graciously shares with the next generation of musicians. Getting involved with his local School of Rock franchise, Dweezil saw an opportunity to educate aspiring rockers with a real, professional touring experience.
"I enjoy being able to provide young musicians with inspirational opportunities," says Dweezil Zappa. "Music is far more interesting if the next generation of musicians first becomes aware of the diversity and creativity that appears to be missing in modern popular music. Learning about music history is essential in helping them find their own perspective and focus on the skills they need to innovate and propel their own music forward."
